Restructuration and expansion of an office building, Boulogne-Billancourt
The project involves the restructuring of the existing building—an industrial hotel, formerly the headquarters of Thomson—carried out by DTACC, along with the creation of service spaces whose architectural concept was developed by the Jouin Manku agency in partnership with T/E/S/S. These spaces include the construction of a welcoming lobby (called the "Mantille") located in the large central patio of the existing building, a service hub housing technical facilities and various shared services (dining areas, an amphitheater, a boardroom, etc.), and a connecting walkway between the two buildings.
The Mantille is designed as a glass canopy supported by a wooden framework. Its beams form a network of delicate lines, discreetly upheld by peripheral columns and a central base that appears to float above the stone floor. This fully glazed lobby serves as the heart of the building. While simple in its aesthetics, its construction is highly complex, with fluid forms that provide exceptional transparency thanks to the careful detailing of its structural supports.
A connecting walkway links the existing building to the service hub. Designed and engineered by T/E/S/S, its deck is supported by a steel box beam. The walkway maintains the architectural language of the project, featuring wood and metal cladding on the underside and railings, echoing the materials used throughout the development. Its curved geometry ensures seamless integration between the buildings.
