Glazed walkways of the Maison de la Radio

The Maison de la Radio, headquarters of Radio-France, is a concentric building composed of the Petite and Grande Couronne, structured around the central Tower, which rises 60 meters in height. The entire site has been undergoing extensive restructuring since 2007, led by Architecture Studio.

Previously, circulation within the building was exclusively concentric. This has been enhanced with the addition of radial pathways that connect the new heart of the building—the Agora—to its periphery, facilitating access to all functions and services.

T/E/S/S is involved in several key structural elements of the project, including the new façades of the Tower, the façades and glass roof of the Agora and the Nef, as well as the new glazed footbridges linking the Petite and Grande Couronne at level R+5.

Each of these structures is supported between the two buildings by a bi-supported Vierendeel beam spanning approximately 38 meters. The architectural intent was to concentrate the structure beneath the deck, thereby offering users an unobstructed view. This structural approach also integrates technical networks within the beam.

The beam itself consists of upper and lower chords connected by a series of vertical posts embedded within them.
